Good morning! The NWS zone map is lit up like a Christmas tree! It looks as if a major winter storm will impact the northern part of Alaska over the next 24 to 36 hours. With a Winter Storm Warning in place for the Fairbanks North Star Borough, the NWS is predicting another 4 to 8 inches of snow by tomorrow evening.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FAIRBANKS HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. SNOW WILL BEGIN AROUND MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. THE TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL BE 4 TO 8 INCHES. ABOVE TREELINE THE WINDS WILL GUST TO 30 MPH WITH BLOWING SNOW.

7 Day Outlook from NWS:

Today...Partly cloudy. Highs 20 to 30. Light winds.

Tonight...Increasing clouds this evening. Periods of snow after midnight with accumulations 1 to 4 inches...heaviest northwest of Fairbanks. Lows 10 to 20. Light winds becoming south 5 to 15 mph after midnight.

Friday...Periods of snow in the morning. Numerous snow showers after noon. Snow accumulation 3 to 5 inches. Highs 15 to 20. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph.

Friday Night...Mostly cloudy. Scattered snow showers. Lows zero to 10 below. West winds 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday...Mostly cloudy. Scattered snow showers. Highs around zero. West winds 5 to 15 mph.
